Unable to fill an urgent vacancy with their usual recruitment suppliers, Sainsbury’s Asia approached Proco Associates with a search assignment for a Hong Kong-based Regional Technical Manager.
The role required a combination of Quality Management experience in electrical products, UK retail market knowledge and the proven ability to lead people and manage high profile projects. The key challenge was identifying individuals with the cross-functional leadership skills within the field of quality assurance.
The entire process took a total of six weeks, from taking the initial job brief to offer stage. Following a comprehensive competency mapping, we presented a shortlist of five candidates. From this list, four candidates were invited to the first stage interview.
In week four of the search, Sainsbury’s Asia made an offer to the preferred candidate. This offer was rejected due to a mismatch in salary expectations, but within 7 days a suitable alternative offer was made and accepted.
The line manager was extremely pleased with the calibre of candidates put forward and was confident that the new hire had the values, competencies, and motivations she was looking for.
